Wait What Gives
My earnings have been lowest in a long time this month. The months of November and December seem to be lower earning months for me, and I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed this trend, or perhaps more aptly put, a downward trajectory in earnings.
Wait, what’s up with that? Is my writing getting worse over these months? Probably not, but during the Holiday months, people are busier, have less time to read, write, and interact with Medium. When the interactions drop, earnings also fall.
Things Change
When I first joined Medium almost seven years ago, claps were all that mattered. It used to be the more claps you got, the more money you made, but this changed about a year later, for good reason – people would clap and run with no real interaction. As writers we want the engagement.
Now, when someone just opens your story And makes a random comment without real engagement, you’re penalized, your stats and earnings for that article, are all messed up, and that’s another reason, I believe my earnings have been minimal this month, according to my stats…
