Words of hate

Are only going

To destroy

Us

Bit by bit.

We throw words

Around in careless abandon

Without forethought

On what is being said

We are all allowed

Our opinions

I don’t have to

Agree with you

Nor you with me

But when we lower

Ourselves to name

Calling and words

Of hate

What exactly

Are we standing for ?

They say an eye

For an eye

Will eventually leave

Us all blind

So let’s stop

Poking eyes out

With the weapon on hate

And take a moment

To think of

The legacy we plan

On leaving.
