An Instant

Just an instant

And everything

Can change

A misstep

The wrong direction

Life is a fragile gift

We learn that

As we grow

Just as we

Learn pain

Comes in many

Forms.

A Mother and Father

Pulling themselves together

As the pain

Of knowing

Their child

Is hurt

Child or adult

It doesn’t matter

They’ll get

On their knees

And thank him

For each breathe

Breathed.

In an Instant

The time it takes

To finish

The words

In a poem

A life changed

But a Fathers

Strength

And a Mothers

Prayers

Never do.
