It comes upons

Us once a year

A celebration

Of motherhood

Of all you have done

But for some

It’s a painful

Reminder of a child you

Lost.

Five days,

Five months,

Five years or

Five decades

Later

The pain

Is still there

The stinging

Pain of a child

Gone to soon.

There’s something

Both beautiful

And painful

About this day

When you’re the mother

Of a Child

Gone to soon.
