Chapter Six:

November 25.1938

They came to our door today, nearly breaking it down, in search of something, I’m not sure what they expected to find, everything of value is long gone, taken by the Nazi’s, perhaps not the ones breaking down our door that morning, but that does not matter, what does matter is that through this Naomi managed to stay calm, helping in her own way, and thankfully she did, they did not take Father this time, but we know that the day will come, it always does.

I am proud of Naomi for remaining calm, though inside she must have been terrified,I know I was. I cannot deny the fear that settled deep inside me, trying to take over.

I could not let these men see that I was afraid though, if I did that then I would be allowing them to win. I cannot give them the satisfaction of seeing me afraid, they do not need to see that. I am not going to give them the satisfaction of seeing me in fear, they will get to much joy from that. We are all trying to be strong when they come, trying to pretend our hearts are not pounding.

But when they left I could hear Mother and Father, they are afraid too, and that is scary. But we are living in scary times, there is no denying that. People disappear everyday taken to the Camps never to come
