Chapter Twenty

Thursday.October.25.2018:

Today I was given a tentative release date of November.04, two months to the day of our lives being changed forever, two months since the date of a madman running us off the road, and nearly killing us. I was looking forward to being at home during the Holidays, but I was still a little nervous too, I was thankful though, that I would be home in time for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas, and that was truly a reason to celebrate.

Mother was looking forward to me coming home, and I was looking forward to not having to sleep in a hospital, I was looking forward to Mom’s good cooking, and to going to bed and getting up when I felt like it, and I was certainly looking forward to not getting woke up in the middle of the night.

I knew I would face challenges when I got home, the world wasn’t always equipped for those with disabilities, and sometimes you would face people who judged you simply because you were different, because you had to do things a little different, but some people thought that just because you did things differently that invalidated who you were, it somehow meant your successes were not meaningful, but that was far from the case.
