Broken Beginnings: Chapter Twenty One:

Chapter Twenty-One:

I did what I could to be there for Tiffany, as she struggled through classes. It quickly became evident that she was going to need an interpreter, something I wished I was qualified for, but I was just learning ASL myself and was far from fluent. I did my best to be there for Tiffany though, and when she didn’t want to have to speak to someone alone, I went with her. I hadn’t realized in many ways she was shy.

“Tiffany it’s okay to ask for help. Believe me I am speaking from experience.”

Tiffany simply nodded.

I had to learn it was okay to ask for help when you truly needed, that in fact we all need help from time to time. I understood that now.

“As much as we would like to think we can all do it alone, but there are times we need someone to help us.”

Tiffany simply nodded acknowledging she had heard and understood what I was saying, but she remained quiet.

“I’ll go with you.” I promised her. “I am sure you’re professors have said something by now, but I’ll go with you.”

“I would appreciate that.” Tiffany said finally. I knew that even needing this extra help was bothering her, but she was smart and I knew that once she was able to get the full lesson not just the bits and pieces she got from lip reading…
