Chapter Three:

Friday.September.07.2018

Slowly, my eyes begin to open. When Mother realizes I am away, she gently brushes back hairs stuck to my forehead.

The blood dripping from the head of my best friend causes me to panic.

“Nadia?” I asked.

“She is here as well.” My mother informs me.

Later

“Hello, sleeping beauty.” Mother says. She shares the same smile as Bobe. The question is, “How are you feeling right now?”

“Better.” I say softly. “But I’m thirsty.”

“I will have someone bring you a seven up, but only a couple of sips at a time.”

I nodded in gratitude. “Thank you very much.” I spoke softly.

Seeing my mother’s exhaustion, I felt a tinge of guilt. It made me feel guilty to see her in that manner.

I am happy to assist you.” Mom kissed my forehead.

“How bad is the situation?” I inquired.

“It’s not good, sweetheart.” Her mother said softly. “Everyone thought you and Nadia would die, but God has other plans for you both.”
