Chapter Fourteen:

“I’ve called the Rehab Facility, they are fine with Sage spending the weekend with us, we can go pick her up whenever you are ready.”

“I’m ready now.” I said. “I’m sure Sage is more than ready, she’s spent far more time in the hospitals and Rehab facility than I did, and I was certainly ready to go home, a little scared, but definitely ready.” I said, making my way to the SUV, knowing that it was going to me more challenging for me to get into the vehicle without help, but it would have the room for both of our wheelchairs. Sage’s was motorized, but it could fold up, and was light weight for a Motorized chair, but it still gave her the independence she needed.

I wheeled myself to the passenger seat. Mother followed right behind. “Let me see if I can do this for myself.”

“Okay, but I’m here if you need me.”

“I know.” I said, grateful to have here there.

I used all the upper body strength I could muster, to lift myself to the passenger side door, and then lifted myself into the seat. I felt like I had a serious workout and I guess I had, but this had been progress, I hadn’t been able to get into the SUV independently before this.

Mom folded my wheelchair, and placed it in the back row of the SUV, leaving plenty of room for…
