“I’m sorry.” Celine replied, breaking the long silence. “I have been impossible, and this isn’t your fault.”

”It’s okay, you’ve got a lot on your mind.“

“I know it’s no excuse for how I’ve treated you, but I’m scared! What if I can’t do what I used to do?”

“Celine, you’ll always find a way to do the things you care about.” I assured her. She was determined and stronger than she realized.

“Tess, I want to get through this, I want to live my life again.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that you will, Celine. Don’t sell yourself short.”

Celine looked down, at her lap, at the end of her left leg. She had given up hiding the reality she couldn’t escape, so she wasn’t always covering her lap with a blanket.

“I can’t help but wonder if I’ll ever be able to fall in love with a man.”

“Celine, you are not defined by what has happened to you. Someone is going to love you. There is no doubt in my mind.”

“Tess, I want to believe you, I need to believe you.”

Nodding, I was grateful for my sister, grateful for that conversation.
