Caught in the Crossfire: Chapter One

I originally started writing this around 1996 when I was in Highschool, recently did some major rewrites…

Chapter One:

There are somethings you never forget, no matter how much time passes. I will never forget, the feeling of being shot, the fear of the gangs retaliated against you, if you dared to speak out about what happened.

Blood in, blood out, that was there motto, it didn’t matter who was hurt along the way.

They thought they owned the streets, and I guess in some places they did. They took them over, while people watched helplessly.

It was time that we started taking back the streets. Violence wasn’t the answer, counting drive byes the way some counted dollars didn’t prove that you were tough. In fact it did quite the opposite. Bullying others into doing what you wanted made one weak, not strong.

The day I was shot, I realized two things, no matter what the world threw at me, the Lord was the one who was In control, and secondly drive by victims were more than numbers, there were names and faces that went along with those numbers.
