Cleansed

I took

What was broken

Beyond mending

And set it free

Broken friendships

Hung on to

Besides the pain

And hurt

Nearly Paralyzed

Me,

Until I found

The courage to say

Not anymore

You aren’t going

To hurt me.

I found myself

Finding freedom

As I let go

Cleansed of

The pain and hurt.

A couple of months

Later I found

Solace at the shore

On a beach

Where I was

Truly able to

Set it all free

To the sound of

Seagulls

And waves

And dolphins

In the deep.

I took

Broken friendships

And set them free

And in doing so

I was set free

Too.
