Clear As Crystal

Clear as crystal
Her eyes
Told the stories
That hid the truths
Beneath to much
Mascara
And to much
Rouge.

Clear as crystal
He spoke to her
Hatred was his
Power
Fear was the
Game.

Clear as crystal
Were his threats
Not empty words
She knew that
He’d kill her
She had no
Doubt.

It was
As clear as
Crystal
She had to
Leave
She’d no longer
Be a
Punching bag.
She wouldn’t
Let him
Crush
Her dreams.

As clear
As crystal
She’d fly away
Finding her freedom
Late that night
She’d slipped
A sleeping pill
In his drink
Her freedom
At stake
Her very life.
