God Is Light

James. 1:16–18 reminds us that God is light:

James 1:16–18 New International Version (NIV)

16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.

What exactly does that mean, first of all God is the light of the world, as Christians we believe without God there would be no light, just as we believe without God there would be no joy, we find the light in our Faith, in studying his word, and in doing our best to follow the path he has placed before us.

But wait does that mean as Christians we are supposed to be perfect, never to make mistakes of course not, the only perfect person to ever walk this earth was Christ because he was both God and man. I know it is a hard concept to gasp, even as Christians the idea can present a problem, but God is the great I am, and he came To take on the cost of our sons. God came to earth as the great I am.

Psalm 27:1 reminds us that:

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life —
of whom shall I be afraid?

Christ came to the earth as that long ago infant babe to bring light, to bring hope to a dark world, and even today he brings hope to all who believed.

As I mentioned in another piece about Joy, Joni Eacerson Tada was paralyzed in 1967, what if she had given up let that be the end of her story? What if she had not turned what was a tragedy into something that could bring us light.

What if Kristen Jane Anderson had let the Suicide attempt be the end of her story, instead of using it as a way to witness to others, her story has literally saved lives, because she allowed God to use her as light?

God is light, and he can use believers as light as well. Have you ever met someone who was so filled with joy and light you find themselves drawn to them?

I Very much was drawn to my best friend in this way, because she had a joy about her, amputated limbs, great physical pain…
