He Carried Our Burden
He carried our
Burden
A heavy one
We nailed him
To that cross
With every hateful
Word uttered.
He carried our
Burden
As they fashioned
A crown of thorn
Around his head
The king of mankind
Bled for our inequities!
He carried our burden
As they nailed him
To that tree
Every strike of
The hammer
A price he paid
For you and me.
He carried our burden
As they mocked him
Free yourself
Son of man
But he hung
To that cross
Our sins held
Him there!
He carried our
Burden
For the promise
That if only we believed
And followed him
He’d see eternity.
He carried our burden
But he did not stay
Nailed to that tree
Or in that tomb,
Our sins held
Him to that tree
And the Father
Set him free.
