He Went to that Cross

21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”[e]

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

1Peter 2:21–24

He went to that

Cross

Willing

A penance for

Our sins

He’d be bruised

For our inequities.

He bore the

Weight of mankind

Nails breaking through

Skin and bones.

The son of man

Carried our burden for us.

He was mocked

As they cried

Crucify him

The son of man

Would die…

But his death

Was not the end

There would be victory

On the third day

He’d rise again

Rolling that stone away

Freed from that tomb

That could not

Hold him.
