She didn’t care

Was worth fighting

He left a wife

And three kids

At home when

She left

A lot of blood

And a piece of

Her heart

In that far off

Place

As she saw

Children

Suffering

In ways

She never had

Before.

They didn’t know

Your name

Or whether you

Voted red or blue

They fought for you

Anyway.

They don’t think

Of themselves

As heroes

They just

Fought so

You may be

Free.
