Hidden in the Shadows: Life With A Chronic Condition, and the Writing Life

Authors Photo taken by Melody Mainville,2011

I live with a Chronic condition, have most of my life, it’s not something I choose to focus on in my writing my main goal is generally advocacy, but there are days I struggle, yesterday was one of those days.

I teach the second and third Sundays this month, or maybe to better put it I co-teach, there are two of us in the Sunday School room and the kids are great, most of the time eager to learn, and excited to be there, on the hard days I struggle, but the kids are like a medicine too, they bring me laughter and joy. No wonder Jesus told his disciples to “Let the Little Children Come Unto Me.”

Children react accordingly to a situation often mimicking adults, but Children are often the least judgemental, they have an inate curiosity and if they ask questions they generally do so out of the desire to truly know, Children asking questions is far different than adults making assumptions or delving out pity like it’s a treat.
