I definitely am more of a pantser but not with every novel, some I definitely had to outline.

The main advantage of pantsing is that some can it more fun. It’s more spontaneous and keeps writing from being boring because you don’t already know what is going to happen. Lee Child has stated that he likes feeling the same excitement at the idea of writing the next chapter as a reader would have at the idea of reading it. That sort of thing isn’t possible when you have already written down everything that’s supposed to happen.
