I Did This For You
I carried the cross for you
Broken and bruised
Nails pierced into hands
Severing bone
My agony was real
The tears I cried
Cut the very depth
Of the soul
I did this for you.
They placed a crown of thorns
Bleeding and bloodied
They made me carry the cross
I did this for
Mankind’s sins
Became my burden.
I died a thousand deaths
For you.
My Mother Mary, and the other Mary
The one many mocked
And called whore
Stood there and watched me
Dying
The very breath leaving my body.
I did this for you.
They placed me in a borrowed tomb
The Son of man
Came into this world
In a stable.
And left in a tomb
Not his own,
Crucified and beaten
