I Forgot for A Moment

--

I forgot
For a moment
Who I was
My worth
As they tore
Me down
With hateful words
And careless actions.

They tried to
Convince me
For a moment
That I wasn’t worthy
And for a moment
The blink of an eye
I forgot
I was a child
Of a King
The daughter of
God.

They yelled hate
At me strong
And powerful
Words echoing
Telling me
You aren’t worthy
But it did not
Take long for
Me to remember
What I had nearly
Forgot
I was the child of God
The daughter of a King
And he paid
The ultimate price
A sacrifice of
Love
On Calvary’s cross.

I forgot for a moment
I was worthy as I was
Until I recalled
The ultimate sacrifice
Of love
That price paid
On that
Long ago day.
