I Think of You
I think of you in July
As we chatted on the phone
About our plans for the August visit.
I remember the gentle country twang
Of your voice
As we chatted on the phone.
We were family even then
Before we met
Sisters of the Heart
The Sister God gave me
For only a brief time.
I think of you in August
And that Summer we boarded a Greyhound
To get to your place
Finally to me feet face to face
And to be the sisters God created us to be.
We may not have shared
The same family tree
But we both shared the blood
of Christ
And that truly made us family.
I remember the way we laughed
When your birthday present got their a week after we did
And we had mailed it out two weeks before we left.
I think of you In Septemember
As we boarded a bus
home bound
Not knowing that the last time
Would truly be the last time
Of a face to face meeting
