I Was Called Stupid Today

There’s something ugly happening when we can’t even have an adult discussion, just because someone disagrees does not give them the right to resort to name calling.

I was called Stupid today for sharing an opinion on Facebook about the Corona Virus panic, and though I am in no way playing down the seriousness of the situation neither am I locking myself in, and washing my hands, covering my mouth when I cough or sneeze, wiping down surfaces I frequently use, and staying away from the public when I am sick are things I already practice. I work with children and I have a disability so these are common sense to me. The fact is even a common cold or a flu can cause serious issues for me. But I can’t live my life locked in a box of my own making.

The fact that this particular person decided that the best way to present her argument was to resort to name calling got to me.

A loved one who worked in the Medical field for decades also added to the conversation, and she too was called names, and I was left wondering why this women could present no other argument than the name calling.

We are allowed to have different opinions and allowed to have discussions but those should not equate to the need for name calling, and honestly we are allowed to share opinions on our Social Media, but that does not give a person the right to resort to name calling and an all out attack.

I was called Stupid today, and made to realize just how divided Covid 19 has us.
