I’m Broken

Not long before my BFF passed away in 2007, she had written me a letter on some of the things she was enduring, ultimately it would be an aneurism that ended up killing her, but I think we all knew her time on Earth would be short. I knew the moment I heard her husband’s voice on the phone that cold February Morning she was gone.

I’m broken

She said

Not quite complete

Like a chain

With a missing link.

He doesn’t measure

Us in brokenness

I said,

We are all broken

In some way

But he gives

Us people to

Lean on

To get us through.

I’m battling

I feel as if

I haven’t been

A good friend.

Don’t ever feel

That way

I can call you

At 3 am

And you would

Talk me

Through some

Kind of tragedy.

People see my
