In an Instant Part Six
Chapter Two:
How did I not see this coming?
A troubled kid, walking into the classroom, ready to kill anyone, who got in his way, student or teacher it didn’t matter this man child was angry at the world, he didn’t care who he brought down with him.
I refused to let any of my students die, even if it meant risking my own life.
My students deserved a chance to live, to grow up. They deserved a chance to go for their dreams, it didn’t matter that many were at risk, many struggled. They deserved a chance to blossom.
I was shot that day, and a couple of my students were well, but no one died, and thankfully I was the one injured the worse. My students are ll expected to make a full recovery. Barring a miracle, I won’t the good news is I believe in miracles. The fact that no one died that day is a miracle. But it does not stop my heart from fluttering every time I hear of another shooting, or hear guns off in the distance.
I know I belong in the classroom and I’m not going to let what happened stop me, even if things will look a little different I am going to teach, but thar doesn’t mean I’m not worried.
