Innocence Murdered
Prologue:
It was a typical day, until it wasn’t. She walked in the door, unaware of the horror that waited inside.
It was quiet, to quiet, there should have been noise, a television, laughter, anything, not the horror that lurked in another room, the living room was empty, lunch lay half eaten on the counter.
Something was wrong, so very wrong.
Her child and his father should be coming to greet her, to talk about the day they had. But all she could smell was the scent of fading gun powder and blood.
If she didn’t open the close door, maybe she could pretend nothing was wrong.
But she couldn’t keep that door closed forever, the truth lay beyond the closed doors.
A truth she wasn’t ready to face, but she had to, she knew something was wrong beyond those doors, but nothing could prepare her for what awaited.
There was blood so much blood. She let out a guttural cry, a noise unlike any she had ever heard. A noise she had never made before.
Blood, so much blood, and brain matter, her family stolen from her in an instant.
She stood frozen, trying to wake up from this nightmare, it had to be a nightmare!
