It Broke Us At the Core

It broke

Us at the core

And taught us

To hold on

A little longer

A little tighter.

It rained ash on

Dreams

And crushed memories

But shared hope

Too

In the silent

Stories

Of the unsung hero’s.

It rained loss

On a nation,

The world

Facing us with

A new reality

But it showed us

Too that love

Is far more

Powerful than hate

And hope

Wipes out

Despair.

It broke us

To the core

But made us

Stronger too

As we learned

To love together

To grieve together.

It broke us

To the Core

And taught us

Something more.
