Jersey Boys
The Story of Frankie Valli &the Four Seasons
Sierra Repertory-Fallon House Theatre
A Review
I would not recommend this play for children under the age of sixteen, as the language, violence, and sexual suggestion of some of the scenes are not something most kids would understand, nor should they. In light of this, let me describe how I felt about the play.
As a first note, seeing the Play in the Fallon House Theatre, an institution in our community since 1857, is a unique experience.
There is no doubt that Jersey Boys tells the story of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons: how they got started, the struggles, the successes and ultimately the losses, a reminder that money does not insulate you from pain and loss.
In terms of the musical itself, I was impressed by the talent in this cast, the way they sounded, and the humor sprinkled throughout the performance.
As Jersey Boys illustrates, success can sometimes be a double-edged sword when other things fall to the wayside. Moreover, it serves as a reminder to celebrate our successes without worshipping them.
Would I recommend this play? A multitalented cast and a powerful production make this play an excellent choice for audiences over sixteen.
This production receives a 5 star rating from me.
