Lessons in a Pandemic: Faith and Politics
2020 entered with such promise, we had heard of a virus in a far off place called Wuhan China, and for most of us it felt like it was far away, that somehow it wasn’t going to affect the rest of the world, and then we watched as the world came to a standstill, as a strange virus ravaged people of all colors, creeds, and walks of life. A virus does not care if you are rich or poor, but it will bring you to your knees, and sadly for some it would carry them to their grave even as some argue amongst themselves whether to mask or not mask, whether social distancing was helpful or not.
Our world shut down causing many to reach out through Social Media, to have to have family meals over FaceTime, and sadly we watched children struggle, as we ourselves tried to make sense of this. We saw the beauty in people but we saw the ugliness as well, name calling, became almost okay, but words have consequences, and negative words can destroy a person. The quickest way to get attached is to talk about your personal politics, something I avoid, because though I believe politics are important, what is equally important is that we respect one another.
I honestly don’t care who you voted for, because that choice was yours. You did the research and voted for the candidate you thought would run the country best, but as it stands we are in unprecedented times. We can’t assume that someone is going…
