Let’s Stop Feeding The Hate
And Set A Better Example for our Youth
I’m tired of turning on the television and hearing about another assassination attempt, another school shooting, or some other act of violence, and then people feeding into it as if it were okay. It doesn’t matter what your political viewpoint is, there must be a point where we all agree that enough is enough. Let’s put the politics aside for long enough to think, the younger generation is watching us, and if we are all flying off of our handles in anger And acting out in hate, what exactly are we showing our children? Anger And hate!
In the past twenty seven years, I have had to talk to my nieces about subjects I never thought twice about as a child. Unfortunately, school shootings topped the list. However, we’ve also had to discuss other hard topics as well, from online safety to assassination attempts, because sadly that’s been their reality, especially my younger niece. It is important to me that they know how to stay safe, so I choose to be open with them. I have also explained that just because bad things happen, God’s love for us does not diminish.
Despite telling children to love everyone, we single out others based on their political party affiliation. All my friends are of varying political affiliations, and we can be in the same room and have a talk without anger boiling over. And that’s how it should be.
