Like A Rose
Christmas 1980's
Nonna was like a rose, strong but delicate, firm but understanding, she had a gentle soul and a strong faith, and she had always been beautiful.
On my twenty first birthday, back in 1998, she gave me a stack of books, money, and family photos we put together, with such care and love, her story unfolded in those photo’s, this beautiful Italian beauty who knew pain but spoke and lived so deeply of love and Faith.
Nonna never drove, but she devoured books, spoke several languages fluently including Latin, and as I grew older on the weekends I would stay with her she would quiz me on Italian, sadly some of which I have forgotten since Nonna left us.
Late 1930’s early 1940's
Nonna was a beautiful soul, whose presence is still felt today, we lost her on November.07.2003 at 12:07 a.m, she was eighty nine, but we did not just loose her in a way we lost ourselves with family divides, that weren’t felt as strongly as when she was there, but time has taught us that what truly matters is those we love, life has taught us the importance of letting go of toxicity and holding on to love.
