Like Letters Written in the Sand, Part Eleven
Clarence was her strength on those days when she felt utterly depleted, weak. Anna-leis prided herself on her strength, but she had dealt with so much in the past few months, the pain of loosing her legs, to some who decided they would drive knowing they had to much to drink, struggling to walk again with prosthetic legs, she still struggled, at times wanting to give up. Clarence had promised her, he would support her in whatever she decided, but the decision had to be right for her. He would never stop loving her, and she felt the same way about him.
It hurt Clarence to see his wife hurting, he would do anything to carry her pain for her if he could, unfortunately that was not an option, but he could hold her through it, comfort her, it seemed so inadequate but to Anna-leis it meant the world.
One evening as Clarence was holding Anna-leis close, she grew quiet for a few moments, he could feel the weight of the silence, something was wrong, but he had learned pushing her was a sure way to get her to shut down, she would talk on her terms.
“I called my family, and told them everything. The accident, our marriage, everything, they were so indifferent it hurt.” Anna-leis could no longer hold back the tears.
