Like Letters Written in the Sand Part Forty Eight Revised
The kind of love Anna-leis and Clarence shared wasn’t something she believed in before meeting him. Before he proposed, after she was told she was a double amputee from a drunk driver, he had placed his hands on her shoulder and promised to love her forever, wanting something good to come of that day. She said yes. Besides turning to Christ and adopting their girls, it was one of the best decisions she’d ever made.
Despite everything that had happened, she was happy now. Anna-leis struggled from time to time, the reality of what had happened waking up to discover she had a double amputee was hard, learning to walk with legs made by humans instead of God was even harder. But that doesn’t mean she’s not happy, she sees the good in her life, whenever Clarence wrapped her in his arms, whenever she looked in Sasha’s and Sonya’s eyes and saw love, she knew life could be both hard and beautiful.
It was a privilege to watch their daughters grow, to watch their love grow every day. Despite the pain, she couldn’t help but see the beauty, and when she struggled, Clarence would point out the beauty, he would gently remind her of God’s grace. She had a good life now, in spite of the pain she had endured, or maybe it wasn’t in spite of, maybe it was because she knew the other side of the coin, that she could clearly see her blessings…
