Clarence stared at Anna-leis, as if he was trying to memorize her, something he did all the time. Anna-leis was his reason, his God given gift, his Solace, every touch, every kiss, every tear he wiped from her eyes spoke of a love so strong, it made his heart skip a beat.
“Do you know, you are beautiful, mind, body and soul, and I am so blessed that you are my wife, that you are my Cinderella.”
“I’m afraid that there will be no glass slippers, Anna-leis said, looking down at her prosthetics. I can barely walk as it is, I’d end up on my face.”
“Glass slippers are over rated.” Clarence said smiling.
Anna-leis nodded, grateful for the gentle way Clarence had of putting things into perspective. He had a way of reminding her that her differences didn’t matter, he loved her as she was, and knowing that felt good.
“You are beautiful Anna-leis, you are loved, and worthy to be loved.”
The words she had never heard from her parents, Anna-leis had not known unconditional love from her parents, she had known nothing from them but contempt and hatred.
