Like Letters Written in the Sand…Part Forty One (Revised)
Anna-leis stared at Clarence as if trying to memorize her. Anna-leis was his reason, his God-given gift, his Solace. Her every touch, kiss, and tear spoke of a love so strong, he could hardly contain himself.
“You are my Cinderella, mind, body, and soul, and I am so blessed to have you as my wife.”
Looking down at her prosthetics, Anna-leis said, “I’m afraid there will be no glass slippers. As it is, I’m barely able to walk.”
“No one needs glass slippers.” Clarence smiled.
Anna-leis nodded, grateful for Clarence’s gentle way of putting things in perspective. He reminded her that she didn’t need to change, he loved her as she was.
“You are beautiful Anna-leis, you are loved, and worthy to be loved.”
Anna-leis had never experienced unconditional love from her parents. Instead she experienced contempt and hatred from them.
Not having the words, Anna-leis only nodded. She couldn’t find the right words to describe her love for Clarence. Although she was a writer, emotional things were harder to express. She struggled to put into words the pain her Mother and Father caused her as a child.
