Like Letters Written in the Sand Part Forty Seven (Revised)
Anna-leis gazed into Clarence’s eyes, his love so evident, that looked gave her hope when nothing else had worked. She wasn’t always comforted by words, but by those eyes.
Her love for him and their daughters was greater than life itself. He reminded her of love and hope with his eyes and scent. His presence made difficult days a thousand times better, and good days a million times sweeter. She learned to love and believe in herself from Clarence, he walked her through the pain of her past, and he reminded her of God’s grace.
As she ran her fingers through his hair, she smiled. All the struggles and heartbreaks had brought her to this point, and this was so much more than she could ever have imagined. Taking a closer look at her prosthetic legs, she saw that they were telling a story of struggles and frustration of wanting to give up, but there was also something else, Hope.
As Clarence reminded her, whether or not she was ever able to walk as well as she had hoped, it wouldn’t change a thing. They had a life, a life they were going to live to the fullest, a life they had built together, a family, dreams.
“You aren’t the same Anna-leis you were before, you aren’t that scared, scarred, beaten down, abused little girl, you have overcome all of that and more.”
