Like Letters Written in the Sand, Part Fourteen:
Anna-leis loved the time she and Clarence spent at the beach, it had been magical, because it was the place where they had met. She’d been so short with him that first time, not hiding the disdain, she held for most reporters, but she’d soon learn Clarence was the exception not the rule. She had learned that his compassion was genuine not a rouse. He had proved that over and over again in the past few months. She knew without a doubt that his compassion was a large part of the reason she fell in love with him.
Clarence was always telling her, she did not see herself as compassionate, most often she looked at herself as defective, because that was what her parents had convinced her that she wasn’t a good person. It was different now with her Faith, Jesus reminded her she was worthy, and with Clarence who always managed to see the best in her. She still struggled with seeing the good in herself, but Anna-leis was doing better now that Clarence was helping her, and just a simple trip to the secluded beach could remind her how much she mattered.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve all of this.” Anna-leis sighed, feeling gratedul. It was Clarence who convinced her she did not have to hide away from the world.
“You’ve done plenty, but it’s not about deserving, it’s about love.”
