Like Letters Written in the Sand…Part Thirty One
Clarence never made Anna-leis feel like she was disabled, that she was broken in anyway, he loved her of course, he had never given her a reason to doubt that, the way he fought for her, the way he loved her through the highs and lows. She couldn’t have gotten through the last year plus, without his loving care. He’d been there through the grief, the denial, the phantom pain, the struggle of going through the adoption process, and so much more. The adoption process alone should have taken more than a year, but God had worked in their favor, he had worked a miracle, both for them, as well as the girls.
It was Clarence who encouraged Anna-leis to see what she could do, not what she couldn’t do, he reminded her of all he had, not all that she had lost. He helped her see the good in her life, like Jesus, Clarence, their girls, the beautiful home they had built together, the careers they had.
Clarence had helped her get through her childhood trauma, had emcouraged her to get helps, for the scars that ran soul deep, the scars that were far more painful than the amputations.
“I couldn’t do this on my own.” Anna-leis said, looking at Clarence, looking at the way his eyes danced. “I couldn’t be this strong without you.”
