“I think I’m okay, that I’m getting it together, then something happens to make me feel like I did when I was a little girl. Those scars run deep.” Anna-leis said with a sigh. “I don’t want Sasha or Sonya to go through this.”
Clarence, took Anna-leis hands, and gently squeezed. The scars from her childhood ran deep he knew that, and when she had called when she had reached out after she was released from the hospital, the way they had discounted her, made him mad. She had enough to deal with coming to terms with the fact that she had lost both of her legs because someone got behind the wheel drunk. The accident had caused far less scars than her parents had. It broke Clarence’s heart when Clarence saw the damage these people had done to someone as wonderful as Anna-leis.
“Sweetheart the girls have us, they are going to be okay.” Clarence gently assured Anna-leis, right now his strong wife sounded fragile, some pain ran soul deep, Anna-leis had shown him that, and she showed him too how he had taken his families love for granted.
Anna-leis said nothing for a few moments, the tears speaking more than words could. He saw the pain and wanted to take it on for her, but of course…
