Like Letters Written in the Sand Part Thirty Three (Revised)
“I think I’m getting it together, then something happens that makes me feel like I did when I was a child. “Those scars are deep.” Anna-leis sighed. “I don’t want Sonya or Sasha to undergo this.”
Clarence gently squeezed Anna-leis’ hands. Her childhood scars ran deep, he knew that, and when she had called after she had been released from the hospital, the way they had discounted her made him mad. As it was, she was still dealing with the fact that she lost both legs due to a drunk driver. The accident had caused far less scars than her parents had. When Clarence saw what these people had done to someone as wonderful as Anna-leis, it broke his heart.
“Sweetheart, the girls have us, they will be fine.” He gently assured Anna-leis. In front of him, his strong wife sounded fragile. She showed him how he had taken his family for granted.
She said nothing for a few moments, her tears speaking louder than her words. As much as he wanted to take on her pain, he couldn’t, and that hurt him.
I don’t know why this happens, I’m okay, then something triggers a breakdown. I thought I was doing better.”
“Sweetheart, you are doing better, but healing takes time.”
