Like Letters Written in the Sand, Part Twenty:
The beach was Anna-leis safe place, Clarence had learned that early on, just a trip to the beach could cheer her up, and he would do anything to make her happy. She deserved to know joy after all she had been through. Clarence could not believe that the good Lord had blessed him with such an amazing wife, he wasn’t sure it would ever happen, until she said yes. Now that he knew her history, he understood why she had been so apprehensive at first, she was trying to protect herself from pain, her scars ran deep, but Clarence knew his love ran deeper.
“Looking at the water, sitting on the sand with you by my side, reminds me of just how big and wonderful God is.” Anna-leis said, leaning against Clarence, seeing the love in his eyes.
“And looking at you reminds me of how blessed the good Lord has made me.” Clarence said, enjoying the quiet moment with his life. For the moment she was in a good mood, she was happy and that made him feel good. This wasn’t an act, he had learned to tell when Anna-leis was hiding her pain behind smiles, and when she was genuinely happy.
