Like Letters Written in the Sand, Part Twenty Six (Revised)
It was a miracle, a gift from God, Anna-leis was convinced. They were now parents, parents of twin girls, and everything seemed to happen at once. They had been with their daughters for several days now, and the weather had been warm, so they decided it was a good time to take their daughters to the water. Anna-leis was determined to provide Sonya and Sasha with the best possible life. Already Anna-leis and Clarence could see a change in their behavior; they were no longer so shy and withdrawn, they were quickly settling in, they had become a family.
Anna-leis was happier than she had been since the day she married Clarence, and now they had twin daughters who needed them. Often God works in mysterious ways. In this case, he had turned what some viewed as a tragedy into a blessing.
“Clarence, sometimes I worry that I am going to wake up to discover this is all a dream.” Anna-leis sighed, looking at Clarence, at the girls, their daughters. This could not be a dream, it had to be true.
“Sweetheart, this is not a dream, it is as real as my love for you.” Clarence assured her as they watched the girls playing in the sand, running barefoot and enjoying childhood, all of the things she hadn’t been allowed to do as a child, but it was different now that she and Clarence were parents.
