Anna-leis gazed into Clarence’s eyes, the love so evident , it spoke to her, those eyes gave her hope when nothing else would work. Words did not always comfort her, but those eyes did.
She loved him, and their daughters more than life itself. His eyes, his scent reminded her of love, of hope. He had made the difficult days a thousand time betters, and the good days a million times sweeter. Clarence had taught her to love and to believe in herself, he had walked her through the pain of her past, and reminded her of God’s grace.
She ran her fingers through his hair, smiling. This was so much more than she had ever dreamed of, every struggle, every heartbreak had gotten her to this point. She looked down at her legs, the prosthetic ones that told a story all their own, of struggles and frustration of wanting to give up, but there was something else too, Hope.
It was Clarence who had reminded her that whether or not she was ever able to walk as well as she had hoped, it wasn’t going to change a thing, they had a life, a life they were going to live to the fullest, a life that they had built together, a family, dreams.
