There is No Fear in Love

Chapter Eight:

“I won’t do anything to hurt you.” Kevin said gently. “I’m not your parents.”

Kelsea knew that of course again, and again he had proved himself. But the things her parents had done to her left physical scars on her, but the most painful of those scars were the ones that could not be seen.

“I know.” Kelsea managed, but he could tell the fear was still there. He pulled a chair closer to her wheelchair, gently kissing her hand. Assuring her that he loved her, and she knew he did. She did not doubt how real his love was because of the way he remained by her bedside, prayed for her, and was willing to marry her even in the midst of all of this. Kevin was a good man who wanted to marry her. She could not ask for more, so why was she so afraid.

“This isn’t how I imagined getting married, and frankly I’m not sure I even considered marriage before you came into my life. The first man I trusted was you.”

Kevin nodded, hating what her parents had done to her in the name of religion, if you could call it that. God would never tolerate such treatment.

“If you aren’t ready for this, we can wait.”

Kelsea shook her head no. She wanted to marry Kevin. She couldn’t keep letting fear hold her back.
