Chapter Eighteen
Kelsea struggled to put on a brave face at times, but with Kevin it wasn’t necessary. She was grateful that Kevin accepted her as she was, and didn’t expect perfection. But sometimes she got angry and lashed out. It wasn’t her intention to treat him like this, but sometimes it was hard to think about anything but her pain. She had made it through this and so much more, abuse in the name of religion, never feeling like she belonged, but now she was in love, and she found out what having a real relationship with Christ was like. Love had found her, but more importantly, Christ had found her.
Kevin was so patient and understanding with her. Her life had changed so much after the accident, but it wasn’t easy before. She had been carrying a lot of weight and pain from her past, and had struggled to let it go, and Kevin was trying to make it easier on Kelsea, offering to carry her burdens, but even though he couldn’t, he knew Jesus could.
“I’m sorry for being so hateful, but sometimes I just lash out. Don’t take it the wrong way.”
“Kelsea, I don’t, I know you’re in pain.”
“But it’s not your fault; you’ve loved me through the worst.”
