Chapter One
Kevin showed Kelsea what true love was, in a thousand ways everyday. From the times he would walk with her along the beach showing her the beauty of God’s creation, to the ways he was there for her when something would trigger, a flashback, to a darker time. A time when the very people who we’re supposed to care for her hurt her, all in the name of a broken faith. Kevin was showing her that a true faith was not about hurting others, but about loving them.
Kelsea was reopening her eyes to the very God, the very Jesus she had thought abandoned her years ago. And showing her they were always there. She still struggled with the past, wrestled with the demons of her past, and likely always would. She still worried about the kind of Mother she would be, and a thousand other things, but with Kyle she had something she lost long ago, hope!
“I’m not going to hurt you.” Kyle gently reminded her when she finally agreed to that first date. He saw the fear in her eyes, and reminded her that he was not her parents.
How could parents hurt their children in the name of Faith? Jesus did not condone that, and neither should anyone else. No one deserved to be victimized in the name of Faith, especially not an innocent child. The thought angered him.
