*I wrote this around 2014 I believe, I’ve grown in the way I tell stories since then, so I thought I’d share both older and newer writings…

Chapter Ten:

Kayla came running into my room a few mornings after I was released. She had heard me fall. I had tried to stand up leaning onto the wooden bed frame for support, but of course I could not hold up my weight.

“Kristiana are you okay?” Kayla asked.

I nodded yes, but the tears and pain in my eyes, not physical pain but emotional pain with a mixture of frustration.

“Kristiana it’s okay to admit that your not always okay.”

“I didn’t hurt myself physically.” I responded. “I just wanted to stand up.”

“I know Kissy.”

“Can you help me up off the ground.” I said. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

“Of course I will help you and Kissy it’s okay to be upset over what you lost. It’s okay to grieve.”

“I know Ky, I just don’t want that grief to turn into self pity.”

“Kissy I don’t see you letting it get to that point.”

“I hope not.” I said. “I have Physical Therapy later today, would you please stay with me. I think I need you there today.”
