Chapter Three:

Kristiana had agreed to come and watch me in Physical therapy. I had asked her too, knowing that sometime I might need her help with some of the exercises on my legs. I was getting stronger, but the reality was more and more evident, my legs remained useless, and if I wasn’t careful they would atrophy that’s where the exercises came in.

I was able to sit up on my own, get in and out of bed, and transfer from the wheelchair to other pieces of furniture. I was learning the importance of making sure I changed position, because pressure sores could cause serious damage. The doctors had warned me and I knew that I could not let anything jeopardize my progress.

“Thank you for agreeing to come with me.” I told Kayla. Thankfully Kayla and I had talked Mother into going shopping. I actually did need some exercise pants for therapy session, and to wear around the hospital. Thankfully I did not have to constantly wear a hospital gown.

“Of course Kristiana. I want to better know how to help you.”

“I know Ky. And you are already doing a wonderful job. Kayla, I could not do this without you.”

“And you don’t have to. I am just glad we have each other.”

“So am I.”
