More than a Little Broken
For All The Good, There’s Another Side to Giving

My friend, who volunteers at Nancy’s Hope main location, has a white truck. Behind it is a mess brought in by other people and even though I feel sorry for some of them, it’s not right to destroy the property of those who are trying to help.
My heart tugged at my heart as I saw someone lying amongst the mess, but I felt mixed emotions of sorrow and anger. While I feel sorry for the situation that brought them to such a low point, I am angry at the way in which the property was treated. It doesn’t make much sense to destroy the property of people who are trying to help.
But I’ve seen worse, I’ve seen people get angry and hateful just because things don’t go as planned. Several months ago, I was working at our satellite pantry at the Church I belong to, when someone came in on the verge of cursing me because the person who had received their first got the last dozen eggs. The whole thing was ridiculous, but though most people are grateful for whatever we give, some are angry because we can’t give everything they want.
We cannot give out food alone in this day and age. We always have two or three people on our team, and while we know most of…
