Back towards the end of July, I shared my top ten motivational writing quotes, but there’s so many good ones that inspire and motivate me, I thought I’d share 1–20 in this one.
11:) Your writing voice is the deepest possible reflection of who you are. The job of your voice is not to seduce or flatter or make well-shaped sentences. In your voice, your readers should be able to hear the contents of your mind, your heart, your soul.’ — Meg Rosoff
I definitely agree with this one, the best writers poor themselves into their stories. The best writers tell the stories that leave a little bit of themselves in their characters whether real or fictional.
12:) ‘You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write.’ — Annie Proulx
Writing for the love of writing is a key component to being a good writer, even an exceptional writer, because it shows if you aren’t passionate about what you are writing.
